The engine (elderly but well maintained 50 HP direct injection Yamaha) then ran poorly at low revs (tested on water muffs - the boat is in my driveway), surging but not quite stalling.

It does work since a lot of running rough is the old fuel with water molecules in it due to the Ethanol pulling it in through the vent line on your tank.

WEB$50K-$100K for a boat and people shop for the cheapest fuel stabilizer they can find. Kind of like buying $250 reels and putting them on $50 rods. I don't have an answer or opinion, just an observation. Like most people, I use that cheap Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer but I doubt that any stabilizer is needed for storage of less than 12 months.

WEBJul 12, 2012 · yamaha f250, page 9 of my owners manual, says recommended fuel 89 octane. Mine is 87 or higher I think. Most of the fuel stations around here carry 89 octane. My new F300 Offshore runs great on it.. If there is 10. % ethanol your getting close to the right octane but who knows how much they really put in.

WEBSep 11, 2009 · I have always run regular in mine (none of my motors required it). I guess back in the late 80's I was told to run regular because premium breaks down faster or something like that. Hell it could of been a lie but to save a few bucks I made myself believe it. Most outboards make best power on 87 octane.

WEBNov 2, 2017 · It was popular as the best tank material decades ago when the choices were pretty much mild steel or monel. I have see monel tanks that are 40 or more years old that were fine. Don't recall ever seeing one that had failed due to corrosion. Plastic tanks obviously won't suffer from corrosion.
