I think it's fair to say that it's important to manage your expectation when you go to Apes 'Den.' As far as we experienced it's just a bit of space besides the narrow road with a canopy over the to… Full review by EmmaBowler

The apes are very well cared for and will pose for a while for a photo but they are wild and do not like to be touched. Your guide will advise and often take a photo for you Full review by Alison H

Was a great experience to see so many monkeys so close up. Really enjoyed the interaction between the babies with their mothers. Never seen so many monkeys so close up. Full review by ian_dempster

There are a few options, take an official taxi tour they will stop at the Apes Den. Alternatively take the cable car and the walk to the Apes Den is not too far, you'll have plenty of opportunity to see them. Remember not to rattle any bags or feed them, as its not allowed and the monkeys know instantly if you have food!
Hi I have a second question, how interactive with the monkey's is this tour? I've seen many pictures with people holding and playing with the monkeys and I really want to have an experience like that!! Or set it up so my boyfriend can! Thank you, Katie

I would be careful with that. When we went there were some young baby ones and some of the adult apes were pretty aggressive. Remember even though they see people daily they are wild animals. Some will come up to you, some will steal from you but I don't think there really is a "set up" to do this.
Hi I really want to surprise my Boyfriend with a trip to the Ape Den, however, I can't find a website with the link to the tickets. I would like to attend this tour through your company, but I will be in Gibraltar is there a way to meet the guide at a specific location? Or is there a tour group that meets in Gibraltar? THank you, Katie

If you are looking for a tour, check out Carl with Gibraltar Inside Out Rock Tours (tripadvisor wouldn't let me put the link) We did a 2-1/2 hour tour (he has multiple tour packages) and he took us to multiple places. It was great because the price also included entry costs. Going through him or another tour guide will make your trip extra special! My whole family loved our trip (which included the Ape Den). The Ape Den is located on Upper Rock Natural Reserve. If you don't do a tour then I would suggest taking the cable car up and be prepared to walk some. (Another great reason to do a private tour ...you get great learning and fun experience)
