Absolutely loved this entire area while on a private tour! The entire complex of Buda Castle, Matthias fountain, beautiful architectural buildings, and colorful houses/buildings - absolutely amazing!! Full review by travelinspiration

Even though this area was heavily destroyed during world war 2, Hungary did a marvellous job in restoring it. It is packed with wonderful buildings and streets. Highly recommend a stroll! Full review by christopheboucher

About 15 minutes. But there are blue electric buses which go up and down the hill every few minutes (no. 17, I think). They are very cheap & included if you but the 1 day or 3 day tram/bus/train/metro/trolleybus ticket, which is about 12 euros for 72 hours.

The palace/castle was closed in November2014. The church and surrounding area,importantly the overlook towards Parliament and the river was accessible. Tour guide said palace was to open Spring 2015. Keep in mind construction may be delayed. I hope for your visit it will be opened.
