President Donald Trump is visiting central Texas on Friday to survey damage after deadly floods ravaged communities there. Follow for live news updates.

Kerrville Police Community Services Officer Jonathan Lamb gave a timeline of the deadly floods impacting the region in Texas and the response and evacuation efforts first responders took to save as many people as they could.

Four swift water rescue technicians from the Shreveport Fire Department have been deployed for six days, assisting with catastrophic flooding in the Kerrville area of central Texas.

With hundreds confirmed dead or still missing, questions remain about the local response to flood warnings. Meanwhile, lawmakers will weigh measures to mitigate future disasters.

Gov. Greg Abbott also directed lawmakers to tighten regulations on THC products, eliminate Texas’ high-stakes STAAR test and rein in local property tax increases during the legislative overtime, which begins July 21.

Officials in Kerr County, where the majority of the deaths from the July 4 flash floods occurred, have yet to detail what actions they took in the early hours of the disaster.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday said investigative committees in the House and Senate will look at the response to deadly flooding in Central Texas, but cautioned not to place blame on any singular source.

"As the community begins to rebuild, we remain committed to standing beside them in the days and weeks to come."
