A man died from injuries sustained at Riot Fest; cause of death is pending and details of the incident are unclear.

A Riot Fest attendee who suffered a medical incident during the festival has died, organizers announced on Friday afternoon.

After receiving treatment for head trauma, 58-year-old Stephen Shult died on Oct. 3. His family and friends suspect he was injured in a mosh pit during the Slayer show — a claim disputed by festival organizers.

The man suffered a brain bleed just before the band Slayer performed on Sept. 22. He was taken to a hospital and remained in the ICU until his death, reported Friday by his daughter.
