Trump’s lawyers said they reviewed a two-volume draft copy of Smith’s report at the special counsel’s office in Washington, D.C. over the weekend.

The lawyers argue that releasing the report would amount to “nothing more than a lawless political stunt” ahead of Inauguration Day.

Both the Justice Department and the judge who oversaw the case were asked to stop the public release of the report.
