Inside the sanctuary, sorrow was thick in the air as the community came together to honor the campers of Camp Mystic, which is a cherished girls’ summer camp along the Guadalupe River. Many campers tragically lost their lives, while others remain missing.

At least 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic in Texas have died in devastating flash flooding that swept through the region, the camp announced. At least 109 people have died in the flooding that struck Texas Hill Country on Friday.

The bodies of 10 of the girls, ages 8 and 9, have been recovered, along with counselor Chloe Childress, 18. Three girls and counselor Katherine Ferruzzo, 19, have not been found.
