Discord CEO and co-founder Jason Citron has announced that he's stepping down from his leadership role at the chat app and being replaced by Humam Sakhnini, a former executive from Activision Blizzard.

Jason Citron was a co-founder of the company, which is said to be working toward an initial public offering at some point this year.

Discord was conceived by Citron and Stanislav Vishnevskiy, who wanted to create something akin to a virtual living room where friends could chat with each other
