Nearly a week after Hurricane Helene smashed into the southeast, many Georgians are still trying to pick up the pieces.

Hurricane Helene isn’t only expected to damage homes and vehicles; it has already resulted in at least 15 deaths and one injury, with more fatalities and injuries anticipated.

ATLANTA — The death toll from Hurricane Helene in Georgia has jumped from 25 to 33 deaths across the state. Gov. Brian Kemp updated the totals at a news conference at the State Capitol on Thursday.
