Jamie Oliver has apologised after First Nation Australians criticised his fantasy novel for allegedly trivialising complex and painful histories. The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation has called for Oliver’s book, Billy and the Epic Escape, to be banned from sale.

The British TV chef and author has apologised for the offence he has caused to indigenous Australians with his children's book Billy and the Epic Escape.

In the book Billy And The Epic Escape, the TV chef tells the story of a First Nations girl living in foster care who is abducted by the novel's villain.
