The Colorado Department of Corrections evacuated all 179 incarcerated individuals from the Rifle Correctional Center Sunday due to the rapidly growing Lee Fire in Rio Blanco County, according to a statement.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, the Lee Fire had grown to approximately 92,047 acres and is 6% contained on Saturday. The fire has caused road closures and evacuations in Rio Blanco and Garfield Counties.

New mandatory evacuations were ordered in the Lee fire late Friday night and early Saturday morning as the blaze grew nearly 30,000 acres on Colorado’s Western Slope near Meeker.
