Officials said the 4,000-acre blaze was mostly remaining in its footprint as more favorable weather conditions emerged.

The Lucas Fire has burned more than 1,000 acres in the hills north of Clear Lake, and evacuation orders extend to the edge of the community of Upper Lake. The wildfire was reported around 9 a.m. Thursday near the Mendocino-Lake county line 6 miles northwest of Upper Lake. The first evacuation orders were issued around 4 p.m.
