The designer kicked off New York Fashion Week by playing with proportions. NEW YORK — Nothing works the way it’s supposed to anymore, and the fate of many of our institutions hangs in the balance.

The designer hosted an off-schedule runway show ahead of New York Fashion Week filled with pumped-up silhouettes and elf-like shoes.

Beauty stickers—like our favorite patches to simultaneously treat and adorn our acne—were reborn in the eyes of Marc Jacobs last night at his spring 2025 show. (While Fashion Week typically shows for the upcoming season, Jacobs broke with the traditional Fashion Week format and presented a see-it-buy-it style show this year.)

Exaggerated proportions, doll-inspired details, circus-worthy shoes, and a message of hope.

Titled "Courage," Marc Jacobs' spring runway collection displayed the designer's exploration and exaggeration of the mundane.

Marc Jacobs has never been afraid of a challenge. He’s never cared much for politeness or propriety, choosing instead to risk it all for the sake of creating fashion that says something about freedom and choice.

With Tracee Ellis Ross, Bowen Yang, Nara Smith, and Sofia Coppola in attendance, Marc Jacobs got going early (as he is wont to do) and kicked off New York Fashion Week a few days before its official start.
