MOOSE LAKE, Minn. (FOX 9) - A man is dead after being found unresponsive in a cell at the Minnesota Correctional Facility - Moose Lake. Prison staff say they responded at 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, to a report from another inmate saying that a cellmate was unresponsive in his room.

A 39-year-old inmate at a correctional facility in Moose Lake died on Tuesday morning. A cellmate reported to staff around 10:40 a.m. that the man was unresponsive in their room, the Department of Corrections said.

A 39-year-old man incarcerated at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Moose Lake died Tuesday, authorities said. In a news release Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Corrections said its investigating the man's death in coordination with the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.

A 39-year-old man died at the prison in Moose Lake on Tuesday. The Department of Corrections sent out a statement, saying that another inmate reported that a cellmate appeared to be unresponsive. This was around 10:30am. Staff responded and performed life-saving measures, without success, per the statement.

The circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation by the Minnesota Department of Corrections’ Office of Special Investigations, the news release states. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy. The man's name has not been released pending notification of the family.
