Overwatch 2 is finally here! While major steps forward for the Overwatch franchise are long overdue after two and a half years without a new hero, the sequel is debuting at an odd time.

The theme for Overwatch 2 Season 5 is Questwatch, and in the narrative of this battle pass, Tracer and Emily are hosting a fantasy table-top roleplaying campaign with their friends.

Mauga permanently comes to Overwatch 2 when Season 8 drops on December 5. He’s also available to play for a limited time in the game’s non-competitive modes until November 5.

Overwatch 2 ’s launch year didn’t exactly go as planned. In the lead-up to its October 2022 launch, the excitement for the hero shooter sequel was sky-high, largely thanks to a planned Hero mode.

Overwatch 2 veterans will remember the controversial Assault 2 Capture Point mode (2CP), where the attacking or defending teams attempted to capture or protect control points across the map.

I think naming the game something like Overwatch 2.0 or Overwatch, Again or Hey, I Am Overwatch Except There Are More Cool Girls would have helped clear up some of the confusion.

Most importantly, Overwatch 2 Season 16 will ring in an entirely new competitive season. This will include a soft Rank Reset, meaning players must complete a set number of games to be ranked again.

Overwatch's 2 PvP is currently in Beta, undergoing new changes and brand-new updates to Heroes, Maps, and even Game Modes.

Overwatch 2's approach to new hero releases is much different than the original game. In the first Overwatch, heroes were free forever and immediately available. In Overwatch 2, you have to earn them.
