The No. 2 Boston College Eagles (15-4-1, 8-3-1 HE) men’s hockey team earned its 15th win of the season with a 3-0 shutout victory over the No. 6 Providence Friars (15-4-2, 5-3-2 HE) on Friday night.

Boston College freshman first line center James Hagens had the primary assist on the first goal and scored the second at 11:45 of the third to lead the No. 2 Eagles to a 3-0 victory over No. 6 Providence College before a boisterous crowd of 7,884.

The number two-ranked Boston College Eagles defeated Hockey East rival Providence, 3-0, on Friday night at Conte Forum. Providence had won their last eight games dating back to November 19, when they were also defeated by the Eagles.

Former Boston College and current Anaheim Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier scored two goals in the Ducks 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. The first goal was at the 1:18 mark of the third period to give Anaheim a 2-0 lead and the second was the game-winning goal in overtime at 1:52.

The Boston College men’s hockey team put together a strong defensive performance, had a goalie make some big saves, and got some timely scoring from their star players on the way to a 3-0 win over Providence on Friday night.
