Garrett Doty, the 24-year-old homeless man accused of smashing a former San Francisco fire commissioner in the head with a crowbar, was released after the allegedly failed to show up in court.

However, Doty was released from custody, following the subject of the attack — former San Francisco Fire Commissioner Don Carmignani — failing to appear in court for a second consecutive day.
