Previously known as Dunkin' Donuts, in 2018 the company announced that it was dropping "Donuts" from its name in a rebrand to increase focus on its coffee and other drinks, which made up of a majority of its sales. Dunkin' has attributed the shortage of its doughnuts to a combination of production challenges and logistical delays.

Dunkin changed its name to remove the donuts, and now the donuts are gone entirely from the coffee chain in some U.S. states. Snackers can rest assured, though, that it's just a temporary shortage and they'll be back as soon as availability permits.

Dunkin customers in Nebraska New Mexico and other states faced an unexpected disappointment last week a doughnut shortage

Dunkin’ dropped “Donuts” from its name years ago. Now, in some states, it doesn't have doughnuts on the shelves either.

Dunkin' stores in Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island all had no doughnuts in their cases Thursday and Friday and put up signs on their doors and drive-thru kiosks informing customers that the pastries were unavailable “due to a manufacturing error.” Some locations did offer “Munchkins,” or doughnut holes, on Friday.

Nobody panic, but Nebraska is currently at a total standstill! At least that’s what we assume is going on there. Why would we think that? Because America runs on Dunkin’ and some stores in the state currently don’t have any donuts on their shelves.
