Between Dec. 26 and 27, the squall dumped 29.7 inches of snow in Long Branch, Monmouth County. The worst of it was from 9-11 a.m. on the 26th, when snow fell at a rate of 3 inches per hour.

Though forecasters are calling for a crippling 12 to 18 inches of snow across much of the state, this weekend’s winter storm probably won’t break any snowfall records for New Jersey. But just because forecasters don’t think this weekend’s snow will be one for the record books doesn’t mean it won’t be compared to some Garden State storms that were blockbusters.
There has only been two storms this decade that have brought more than 8 inches of snow in a day, the low estimate for Sunday.
