RODANTHE, N.C. (WNCN) — Crews have returned to once again to build up Outer Banks dunes along a stretch of N.C. 12 where “ocean overwash” on Tuesday rendered the key road impassable for traffic.

Strong winds have pushed sand onto NC-12 between Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe on the Outer Banks Saturday morning, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
