It’s customary for the Champions League to overdeliver on drama but rarely quite like Tuesday night’s game between Barcelona and Benfica.

UEFA Champions League action continues as Portuguese powerhouse Benfica host Spanish giants Barcelona on Tuesday on Paramount+. Benfica are battling to translate their domestic success to the UCL, although they have had a potent attack leading up to Tuesday's match.

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Benfica forward Vangelis Pavlidis has scored the third-fastest hat trick at the start of a Champions League game on Tuesday, against Barcelona. The Greece international scored two minutes into the match and then in the 22nd and 30th minutes as Benfica led Barcelona 3-1 at halftime.

Benfica will square off against FC Barcelona on Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

There were plenty of fireworks on the pitch as Barcelona stormed back to defeat Benfica 5-4 in Champions League play on Tuesday, but they also extended off of it, too. Deep into stoppage time, Barcelona's dramatic winner came via Raphinha after Benfica wanted a penalty moments prior.

Barcelona came back from two goals down with 15 minutes to go to defeat Benfica 5-4 and secure their place in the Champions League round of 16.
