Nvidia Corp. NVDA is reportedly weighing an investment of up to $10 billion in Anthropic’s potential initial public offering, as the Claude maker is seeking to raise up to $100 billion at a valuation of about $2 trillion.

Claude was developed by Anthropic, a San Francisco-based company founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees focusing on AI safety and research. Dario Amodei, the co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, had served as vice president of research at OpenAI. His sister Daniela Amodei serves as Anthropic’s president.

AI was used to develop missile guidance software in Yemen and to power cyber operations, a report alleges.

It all ties together with a recent Anthropic job posting for an “enterprise intelligence specialist,” which describes the role as identifying, tracking and investigating “global threats including geopolitical instability, terrorism, crime, activism, nation-state targeting of the AI sector, and emerging security trends.”

Anthropic says Claude users in northern Yemen, territory controlled by Iran-backed Houthi rebels, tried to use the AI model to develop advanced missiles.
