A Boston-based group led by Celtics minority governor Steve Pagliuca has reached a deal with the Mohegan Tribe to purchase the WNBA's Connecticut Sun and move the team to Boston, according to multiple reports Saturday.

Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca is buying the Sun for $325 million, putting another $100 million towards a team facility in Boston.

On Saturday, the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn and the Associated Press reported that Boston Celtics minority ogovernor Steve Pagliuca was leading an ownership group that planned to buy the Connecticut Sun for $325 million and move the franchise to Boston starting in the 2027 season.

T he Boston Celtics are entering what could be a throwaway season in the 2025-26 campaign. After Jayson Tatum went down with a torn Achilles in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, the team underwent major changes during the offseason.

Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles on May 12. Typically, stars who suffer such an injury don't play the following season while they recover. However, the Boston Celtics have not technically ruled Tatum out for the 2025-26 season.
