So with the limited knowledge that we have of it being written, directed and having VFX from Takashi Yamazaki, here are three things that I definitely want to see (and two things that I definitely don’t want to see) from the next installment in the current Godzilla era. Oh, and minor SPOILERS up ahead for Godzilla Minus One.

Today Toho Studios officially announced a new Godzilla movie was on the way. The new film will be written, directed, and will have visual effects overseen by Godzilla Minus One mastermind Takashi Yamazaki. Needless to say, if you were a fan of that movie, this is huge news.

Godzilla Minus One is available to stream and purchase both digitally and on physical Blu-ray and DVD releases now, and its black-and-white Minus Color re-release is now in theaters for a limited time to mark Godzilla’s 70th anniversary.

The team behind the best Godzilla movie in years is going to make another one. Takashi Yamazaki, who wrote, directed, and oversaw the VFX for Godzilla Minus One, revealed today in a brief video teaser that his team has been greenlit to work on a second Godzilla.

Toho and Godzilla Minus One's Takashi Yamazaki are teaming up for another movie about the King of the Monsters. The news was shared via the Japanese entertainment company's Twitter on November 1, with a video captioned "EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT".
