After a man died in Haverhill police custody, his family is asking the public for support — and demanding those responsible be held accountable. Francis Gigliotti‘s fianceé, Michelle Rooney, created a fundraiser in the wake of his death, which she described as a “violent encounter with the Haverhill Police Department.”

Francis Gigliotti died when police attempted to restrain him after he was allegedly "behaving erratically," according to the Essex County District Attorney's office.

The seven officers involved in the struggle with a man who later died in Haverhill have been placed on administrative leave, Mayor Melinda Barrett said.
