Confusion over a new $9 toll for the Queensboro Bridge in NYC has sparked frustration among drivers and calls for better signage and system adjustments from Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

It is easy to say congestion pricing is in effect in Manhattan. But what does that mean in terms of tolls in the borough? In short, most motorists will pay a $9 base toll when they enter Manhattan anywhere south of and including 60th Street during peak hours between 5 a.

Some drivers on the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge are being charged because of congestion pricing, whether they know it or not.

Drivers say there's no way to get from Manhattan to Queens without paying the $9 fee, even though they have no intention of going into the designated congestion pricing zone.

Now that congestion pricing is in effect, drivers are discovering a quirk of the Queensboro Bridge that tolls them even if they don’t want to enter the zone south of 60th Street – and they’re furious.
