Microsoft will be laying off about 4% of its workforce, which is about 9,000 employees. It is unclear if any of those jobs are across the Bing, Copilot or Microsoft Advertising businesses, or any search-related business.

The reductions followed cuts of about 6,000 positions last quarter, and were indicative of a tightening job market at big technology companies.

The cuts represent less than 4% of the company’s global workforce and come on top of about 6,000 roles it eliminated in May.
