The San Diego Padres had a sensational trade deadline. From adding a feared closer to an already league-best bullpen, to acquiring much-needed bats to the lineup, it feels like every need from the first half of the season was addressed.

De Vries along with RHP Braden Nett, RHP Henry Baez, and Eduarniel Núñez were sent to the Athletics in exchange for closer Mason Miller on Thursday. De Vries was the top prospect in the Padres’ system, and the top prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline.

The Padres, after completing a blockbuster trade earlier in the day, reportedly added to their depth at a key position in a trade with the Kansas City Royals.
