The LSU Tigers hired the ever-controversial Lane Kiffin as the football program’s head coach after parting ways with Brian Kelly, and Kiffin wasted no time in bringing controversy down to Baton Rouge.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported LSU president Wade Rousse briefly joined the other 15 SEC leaders but was advised by counsel not to participate in the meeting. The ongoing federal lawsuit filed by the SEC against LSU was the reason, ESPN reported.

In the wake of head coach Lane Kiffin and LSU's attempts to add former NFL players to its roster for the 2026 season, people in the SEC don't have many kind things to say about the program right now.

Landry is among many Louisiana elected officials to criticize the SEC after the conference threatened to remove LSU in a battle over player eligibility.

In defiance of conference rules, LSU and Kiffin tried to add two professional football players, Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, to the Tigers, citing recent conflicting court rulings about an extra year of eligibility for players in the 2022 recruiting class.

Mike Elko compared the SEC's clash with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers to parenting, saying the school backed down once "dad raised his voice."

The LSU Tigers won't be receiving any punishment from the SEC stemming from the NFL eligibility saga, at least for now.
