The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,303 level, a premium of nearly 31 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Reliance Industries Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Maruti Suzuki Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Larsen & Toubro added to the Nifty 50 index.

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a gain of 0.16% at 23,213, while the Sensex closed at 76,724 marking a 0.29% increase from the previous close.

The Indian equity market closed in the green on Tuesday amid favourable domestic and global cues, as Adani Enterprises was the top Nifty 50 gainer.

Nifty 50 slipped below the 23,550 mark, marking a decline of 162 points to end at 23,526.5. The Sensex fell 528 points to settle at 77,620, as broader market sentiment remained bearish. Frontline indices lost nearly 1% each,

Resistances for the benchmark Nifty-50 index is seen at 23,340 and 23,500, while on the downside 23,047 becomes the base for the short term, said analysts.

The market is expected to be under intense pressure with strong headwinds. Brent crude is above $81 per barrel, while sharper than expected surge in US jobs data coupled with consistent FIIs selling and Q3 earnings have taken a toll on the market.

A long bull candle was formed on the daily chart that surpassed the cluster hurdles like the 10 and 20-day EMA and also the opening downside gap of December 19, which has been filled at 24,150. This is a positive indication and signals an important turnaround for the market on the upside.
