Former Bangladesh one-day captain Tamim Iqbal has announced his retirement from international cricket, saying he did not wish to be a distraction for the team ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal confirmed his retirement, saying his chapter in international cricket is over. "I have been away from international cricket for a long time, and the gap will not close. My chapter in international cricket is over," Tamim wrote in a Facebook post Friday.

This is the second time he has called time on his career, having previously retired in July 2023 only to reverse the decision within 24 hours
