The 97th Academy Awards have kicked off at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. “Emilia Pérez” leads the pack with 13 Oscar nominations, but “Wicked” and “The Brutalist” are close behind. The 2025 Oscars opened with its biggest musical voices.

With Mikey Madison, Cynthia Erivo, Demi Moore, Fernanda Torres, and Karla Sofía Gascón all battling it out for the actress in a leading role award, and Adrien Brody, Colman Domingo, Timothee Chalmet, Ralph Fiennes, Sebastian Stan all competing for the best actor in a leading role category, the competition was no joke.
