DENVER -- Casey Mittelstadt scored the go-ahead goal at 7:22 of the third period, and the Colorado Avalanche extended their winning streak to five games with a 5-2 victory against the Winnipeg Jets at Ball Arena on Tuesday.

In a span of three weeks, the Avs have gone from “they’re still going to make the playoffs, right?” to suddenly being one of the hottest teams in the NHL.

It’s been a rocky road to third place for the Avalanche, but the vibe in Colorado is righteous and real as they roll in, having won four in a row and eight of ten games. Who will come out on top tonight?

The Avalanche (22-15-0) have also won four games in a row and are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games. Colorado will also be looking to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Jets back on November 7. Winnipeg won't hold a morning skate, so stay tuned for any line-up updates as they come available.

Artturi Lehkonen put the Avalanche ahead midway through the opening period. He got position on Stanley in front of the Winnipeg net and was able to deflect a shot from the right point by Manson despite being checked to the ice at 11:51.
