Beyoncé took home album of the year at the 2025 Grammys for "Cowboy Carter." She is only the 12th Black artist to win the coveted award.

On Sunday evening at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, Beyoncé finally received one of the accolades her fans have long been waiting for: the superstar’s eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter, took home the award for Album of the Year. She is the first Black woman to win the award since Lauryn Hill.

Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston and Lauryn Hill’s album of the year wins all came in the 1990s. Beyoncé’s fifth shot, for “Cowboy Carter,” arrives Sunday night.
