A county in New York City’s Long Island suburbs will be teaming up with federal authorities in President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.

In a display of force aimed at increasing arrests and generating publicity, the administration targeted the nation’s largest city, where sanctuary policies limit cooperation with ICE.

Most of the ICE arrests were for nonviolent offenses. Those in custody face deportation or hearings before immigration judges.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman stressed this was a "targeted enforcement" against "illegal migrants who have committed crimes."
