Synthesia CEO Victor Riparbelli told CNBC his company isn't "dependent" on venture capital, unlike companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

Synthesia, an AI film platform, raised US$180 million in its latest round of funding, valuing the company at US$2.1 billion, CNBC reported. The startup was valued at US$1 billion when it raised its last round of funding in 2023.

The valuation makes Synthesia the most valuable generative AI media firm in the UK, the company said, citing data from Dealroom. Synthesia's technology allows businesses to generate custom AI avatars used in instructional and corporate videos.
