A county in New York City's Long Island suburbs will be teaming up with federal authorities in President Donald Trump's crackdown on immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.

NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. (TNND) — Police in Nassau County, New York will partner with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in detaining illegal migrants accused of crimes, County Executive Bruce Blakeman said Tuesday.

In a display of force aimed at increasing arrests and generating publicity, the administration targeted the nation’s largest city, where sanctuary policies limit cooperation with ICE.

Most of the ICE arrests were for nonviolent offenses. Those in custody face deportation or hearings before immigration judges.
