Blackhawks trade Petr Mrazek, Craig Smith to Red Wings for Joe Veleno
It seems like a smart move for Hawks general manager Kyle Davidson, who not only does right by Mrazek but also converts a 35-year-old pending free agent into a 25-year-old forward with term remaining — without having to give up any draft picks to make it happen.
The Blackhawks recently acquired Spencer Knight from the Florida Panthers for defenseman Seth Jones, making Mrázek available.
