In a new interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he opined that audiences know a good story (or lack thereof) when they see it too—even if Hollywood plasters it over with seven layers of CGI and VFX laser battles.

Tom Hanks has blasted film critics amid a rant about the impact negative reviews can have on the success of a project. During an interview for the latest episode of the Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend podcast,

Hanks reunited with “Forrest Gump” director Robert Zemeckis and co-star Robin Wright on the new film “Here.” Based on a 2014 graphic novel, the movie uses AI to follow Hanks and Wright as a married couple across decades.

Hanks said that a movie is first reviewed by a critic, following which the audience weighs in on the matter, "then a ton of time goes by when none of that stuff matters anymore."
