An ice fisherman died Monday morning after falling through the ice while riding a UTV on Lawrence Lake in Marquette County. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 10 a.m. for a report of a fisherman who had gone through the ice.

WESTFIELD (WLUK) -- A fisherman died after falling through the ice on a Marquette County lake. It happened around 10 a.m. Monday on Lawrence Lake in the town of Westfield. Emergency responders went to the lake after reports of a fisherman falling through the ice while on an UTV.

Authorities in Wisconsin say the driver of a UTV was arrested for their first OWI offense after the UTV and two people went through the ice while driving on a lake Sunday evening. According to a release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office,

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a statement that deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a report around 5 p.m. that a UTV had gone through the ice on Sinissippi Lake in the town of Hustisford.

Schmidt said the preliminary investigation shows that the UTV, a 2024 Polaris, was traveling north on Sinissippi Lake when it went through the ice. The Hustisford Fire Department worked in coordination with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and was able to successfully pull both people from the UTV out of the water and back to shore.
