Cases of various illnesses are on the rise as snow and cold weather keep people indoors. Outbreaks of norovirus, also called the winter vomiting bug, are surging throughout the U.S. Hamilton County Public Health Medical Director Steve Feagins says increased cases of the flu, COVID and RSV are also expected during this time of year.

If you've woken up with sweaty palms, shaky hands and a grumbling stomach begging for relief, you're not alone. The new year brought a warm winter, new habits and an uptick of norovirus — commonly called the stomach flu.

Norovirus is a very contagious virus causing vomiting and diarrhea. It's not related to the flu despite being commonly referred to as 'stomach flu.'
