Thousands of illegal fireworks lit up the sky in Northern California despite warnings of fines and increased enforcement.

Schenectady Fire Chief George Burns said a pick-up truck crashed into a house early Saturday morning at 1035 Van Velsen Street, causing the house to catch fire.
