In a statement issued Monday evening, Superintendent Mary Skipper said the closure of the Excel High School will be part of the Boston School Committee's Long-Term Facilities Plan.

The closures, part of the district’s ongoing Long-Term Facilities Plan, would take place at the end of the 2025-26 school year.

The recommendation to close Excel High School will be officially made at a School Committee meeting on January 22, Skipper said.
