President Donald Trump is set to impose sweeping 25% tariffs on goods coming from Canada and 10% on goods from China starting Tuesday, in what he’s said is a bid to clamp down on the flow of fentanyl and migrants into the U.S.

Trump positioned the tariffs as a way to “halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the United States,” referring to fentanyl. The change will have a big impact on the cost of a wide variety of goods imported from each country, including electronics, produce, clothing, and much more.

Tariffs will be paused for 30 days. But a 10 percent levy on Chinese goods is still scheduled to go into effect.
