Alabama has named its starting quarterback for the start of the 2025 season, handing the reins to redshirt junior Ty Simpson, who has sat behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe for the past three seasons. Now that Ty Simpson has been named Alabama's starting quarterback, the real battle begins between Keelon Russell and Austin Mack to be his backup.

ESPN's Chris Low reported Monday that Ty Simpson won the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback job in the competition against redshirt sophomore Austin Mack and true freshman Keelon Russell. While Simpson has been a backup in each of the last two seasons, this is set to be his fourth year within the program.
