Trooper-paramedic Hunter Bennett and pilot Robert Skankey died when their helicopter crashed during active shooter pursuit in Flagstaff last month.

The collision happened as troopers responded to reported gunshots in South Middletown Township Tuesday afternoon. One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash Wednesday on I-55 north at Elton Road in south Jackson. Live MDOT camera video showed vehicles piled on one another near the scene at about 6 a.m. Several different first responders were at the scene of the crash, which was cleared by about 8 a.m.

A preliminary NTSB report points to a mechanical problem in the main rotor of a DPS helicopter that crashed in Flagstaff, killing two personnel. The final report could take over a year.

State police are looking for a driver who they say disappeared after crashing on I-94 near Marshall earlier this week.
