Protesters clashed with law enforcement in Los Angeles on Sunday after Trump deployed National Guard troops over the objections of Gov. Newsom.

"The President has chosen to protect federal officers and LA citizens because Governor Newsom has refused to do so," Representative Kevin Kiley told Newsweek.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has formally requested that the Trump Administration remove the National Guard from L.A.. The soldiers’ insertion into the city was a retaliatory measure made by the President late Saturday night in response to ongoing protests against city-wide raids by U.

Governor Gavin Newsom said the U.S. President “manufactured” the chaos in Los Angeles to distract from challenges and seize power.

The city acknowledged that the change could make it more difficult for some families to visit detained loved ones.

State law, in fact, specifically prohibits local law enforcement from working with federal immigration enforcement operations in most instances.

Tom Homan, the head of ICE, confirmed to NBC News that he would arrest Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass if they interfered with immigration raids.
