Israel carried out air strikes in Lebanon, targeting areas in the east and south according to Lebanese state media, with the Israeli military saying it hit Hezbollah targets including smuggling routes along the border with Syria.

On 26 January a ceasefire is set to end between Hezbollah and Israel, which will see the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from south Lebanon.

Israel has warned on Sunday that its ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah could collapse if the Iran-backed group does not withdraw beyond the Litani River, one of the key stipulations of the truce.
