Authorities say a Philadelphia teenager arrested last year and charged in an ongoing terrorism investigation was making and testing bombs and considering attacks throughout the region, including the city’s LGBTQ Pride March.

Law enforcement officials in Philadelphia provided an update to a case involving a teen boy who, officials claim, communicated with a group affiliated with Al-Qaeda and allegedly purchased materials online in an effort to obtain weapons of mass destruction.

Muhyyee-Ud-Din Abdul-Rahman of Philadelphia who was arrested for allegedly trying to join an overseas terrorist organization as a bomb maker will be prosecuted as an adult, the DA says.

Rahman, now 18, conducted more than a dozen tests on homemade bombs near his family’s house in Wynnefield while aspiring to become a bomb-maker in Syria, authorities said.

Rahman, 18, of West Philadelphia, will be charged as an adult on allegations that he created bombs and was in communication with a group affiliated with Al-Qaeda.

Prosecutors said 18-year-old Muhyyee-Ud-Din Abdul-Rahman was looking into possibly targeting the Pride Parade and military bases.
