Hazy skies settled over Hampton Roads this week as smoke from wildfires in Canada moved over the region. For the past week, fires in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan have scorched 16.5 million acres of land in the area.

The wildfire areas of Manitoba and Saskatchewan are projected to receive 50 millimeters to 100 millimeters of rain this weekend into early next week. That amount of rain converts to two inches to four inches of rain. Two to four inches of rain will do a lot to extinguish a wildfire.
